Two men dressed in black clothing stabbed a Hermosa Beach man April 17 numerous times inside his home in the 1500 block of Hermosa Avenue, police said this week. The suspects are still at large.

According to Press Information Officer Paul Wolcott, the victim, whose name is not being released to protect his identity, opened his front door to the suspects at about 3 p.m. The men asked to speak with one of his family members.

“The victim told the men this specific family member was not there and they then forced their way into the home,” said Wolcott. “It was clear there was some type of dispute and they began attacking the victim.”

The two men stabbed the victim several times in the neck, arm, chest and face; and then fled the scene. The victim crawled out of his home where several people eating at a nearby restaurant saw him lying on the ground.

“The victim was in and out of consciousness; the witnesses saw him bleeding profusely and called 911,” said Wolcott. “Thanks to the quick actions of these people and our paramedics, the man’s life was saved.”

Paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.

Police officers from Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach and El Segundo assisted the Hermosa Beach Police in the search of the two suspects.

“El Segundo assisted with a canine unit and Manhattan Beach brought in a bloodhound for the search,” said Wolcott. “The victim and additional witnesses have been helpful in our very intensive investigation.”

The men were wearing black pants and black hooded sweatshirts at the time of the crime. Those with additional information should call Det. Raul Saldana at 318-0332.
