Hermosa Beach Police last week arrested a recently paroled man in connection with a bank robbery that took place last month.

Officers Feb. 5 arrested San Pedro resident Kenneth Eugene McGee, 33, for suspicion of a bank robbery at the First Federal Bank in the 1100 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach Jan. 10.

With the help of the FBI, officers continued their investigation following the crime and eventually tracked down McGee.

Detectives collected information on the suspect’s identity through video surveillance tapes and the suspect’s m.o. (mode of operation).

Detectives then showed the tape to police departments in Rancho Palos Verdes, Harbor City and San Pedro.

“When told he was being arrested for bank robbery McGee replied, ‘How many?'” said Hermosa Beach Press Information Officer Paul Wolcott.

McGee is now under investigation for his potential involvement in other local robberies. He is now being held without bail in the Federal Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

“McGee has an extensive criminal history and was recently paroled from federal custody for bank robbery,” added Wolcott.
